Key Benefits of the TruBeam Radiotherapy System
- Fewer Treatments - the TruBeam delivers higher-intensity doses more precisely, which means fewer and shorter treatments. A treatment regimen that currently takes six weeks will typically take only five days.
- Improved Accuracy and Safety - tumors can be more precisely located and imaged, and radiation doses more accurately designed to match the shape of the tumor. Further, the patient’s breathing can be monitored during treatment and the radiation path adjusted for any movement of the tumor. This ensures that the radiation always hits the tumor and healthy tissue is spared from undesirable radiation.
- New Procedures - possible brain tumors can more easily be treated with the TruBeam linac. This technology also allows multiple tumors to be treated simultaneously, which further reduces treatment time.
- Patient Comfort - fewer, shorter sessions means greater comfort for patients, especially those with mobility impairments and/or physical pain.
